March is Food Share Month
Minnehaha Food Shelf
An ecumenical program of Minnehaha United Methodist Church, 3701 East 50th Street, has served the less fortunate in our neighborhoods for the past twelve years. They are an organization staffed mainly by volunteers with only one paid staff position, being that of the director George Gallagher. Presently clients are allowed to visit the food shelf once a month as a way to supplement their needs. The food shelf is presently in dire financial condition because of the increasing numbers of people using the food shelf and the increasing cost of the food purchased from Second Harvest Heartland. For more information, call 612-721-6231.
Minnesota Food Share - March Campaign
The 2012 Minnesota FoodShare March Campaign is just around the corner. The goal is to raise 12 million pounds and dollars to benefit Minnesota's food shelves. With the help of congregations, along with schools, businesses, civic groups and individuals across the state, we can once again raise enough money and food to provide more than half the food distributed annually by food shelves statewide. If you need help finding you local food shelf, or have questions, call 612-721-8687 or visit their website at www.mnfoodshare.gmcc.org.
